We're Building Better Energy Communities Across Ireland

Grants Available from 30% to 80%*

KORE’s Better Energy Communities Scheme, part-funded by SEAI, provides grant funding for energy efficiency upgrades for domestic projects, commercial (public and private) and community organisations. Grant funding can be used towards a variety of energy efficiency measures and helps reduce the out of pocket costs associated with retrofit works. Levels range from 30% up to 80%, depending on the market and type of project.

Low Energy Housing

Homes included in Better Energy Community projects not only benefit from the initial grant funding of up to 35%. Homeowners also enjoy the benefits that come with a low energy home, including reduced energy spend on an on-going basis, more comfortable indoor environments, healthier indoor environments and a reduced carbon footprint. Post-BER ratings from residential homes included in past schemes range from B2 to A1 – future proofing our existing housing stock for the next generation.

Healthier Work Environments

Energy upgrades are not limited to residential properties. Commercial businesses in both the public and private sectors are eligible for grant funding of up to 30% for energy efficiency upgrades. This includes but is not limited to LED lighting upgrades, boiler upgrades, renewable technologies such as heat pumps and solar PV/thermal, building fabric upgrades (insulation) and more.

Commercial businesses will enjoy decreased energy spend, healthier and more comfortable indoor environments for employees, along with reduced carbon emissions and carbon footprint.

Works under the Better Energy Communities Scheme benefit the entire community. From reduced energy usage and spend for homeowners, business owners and community organisations, local communities will enjoy reduced carbon emissions and associated carbon footprint – helping Ireland’s Climate Action Plan on a national level.

Community organisations (not-for-profit) can participate and receive funding of up to 30% towards the cost of energy efficiency upgrades. Previous works include local GAA clubs and community-owned apartments.
