KORE EPS Void Formers

KORE’s EPS Void Formers are used extensively throughout the construction industry for major works such as motorways, underpasses, shopping centres, foundations and embankments. KORE Void Formers are suitable for domestic and commercial applications.

KORE EPS can be used as both void formers and void fillers. Void formers decrease the volume of concrete, reducing weight while increasing the strength of concrete. Void fillers are designed to fill a void with Expanded Polystyrene and are left in-situ.

KORE EPS Void Formers and Void Fillers are available in a range of compressive strengths to suit the needs of the project.

KORE Void Formers are made from Expanded Polystyrene – the same high performance material used for our extensive range of insulation solutions. Made from 98% air, KORE EPS is lightweight, versatile, water and moisture resistant, rot-proof and will not degrade over time.

KORE Void Formers are manufactured to the specifications required from each project and profiled before delivery to site. KORE Void Formers can also be cut on site without the need for any specialised equipment. KORE EPS can be used for both void former and void fill applications.

Applications for KORE Void Formers

KORE Expanded Polystyrene void formers are used during the formation of foundations. EPS is the ideal solution as it will not absorb water. This ensures the adjacent concrete quality is unaffected. Our EPS blocks can be cut to suit individual site conditions.

KORE Void Formers are extensively used to reduce the dead-weight of a variety of structures, including pre-cast flooring beams and motorway bridges. By reducing the lateral forces, a simpler foundation design is possible.
KORE manufacture and supply trough and waffle moulds. These form the foundation of in-situ reinforced concrete ribbed floors. These moulds are both versatile and cost effective in their design.
KORE Void Formers are used during road embankment to reduce pressure on soil and are a cost effective solution for piled construction when traditional embankments are too heavy. The lightweight properties of EPS will provide the required load bearing foundations without causing settlement.
