November 9th saw KORE win the Energy Efficiency Award at the Property Industry Excellence Awards 2018.

Taking place in the Convention Centre Dublin, The Property Industry Excellence Awards is the beacon for excellence in the Irish property sector.

KORE won this award for our participation in the 2017 Better Energy Community scheme, which has helped promote energy efficiency and grants available to residents, businesses and community organisations in the Cavan area.

KORE, with funding from SEAI upgraded 11 community-owned vacant apartments in Belturbet, Co Cavan upgrading them to a Building Energy Rating of between B1 and A2, and now all are fully occupied. 9 additional homes in the local community received deep retrofit works, achieving energy ratings as high as A1.

Two additional community organisations received energy efficiency upgrades as part of this project, including Ramor G.F.C. and Killinkere G.F.C. Measures included LED lighting upgrades, air source heat pumps for domestic hot water and a 12m2 thermal array with an existing gas boiler back up. Energy credits that were saved during the commercial upgrades were donated to the community organisations to help reduce costs – a driving factor to participation in this scheme. Local residents and visitors to the area will now enjoy better lighting at night while on the pitch, while the community organisation will see energy savings on an on-going basis.
