Achieving the Perfect Base: How T3 Performs Under the KORE Insulated Foundation System

The KORE Insulated Foundation System is designed to deliver a high-performance, thermally efficient, and structurally robust solution for modern construction. By replacing traditional strip foundations with a fully insulated, engineered system, KORE helps eliminate thermal bridging, improve airtightness, and speed up installation on-site.
Despite its proven performance across countless projects, a few misconceptions still arise particularly around site preparation and the use of T3 material as a base layer.
One of the most common myths we hear is: “You can’t get T3 compacted and levelled to install a foundation on it.” The Practical Truth: T3 Can Be Easily Compacted and Levelled.
In reality, achieving the correct compaction and level for T3 is a straightforward, reliable process when carried out using the correct method. Our installation approach has been refined to ensure stability, precision, and consistency on every project.
Here’s how it’s done:
- Install the first 30mm of T3. A thin initial layer ensures effective compaction from the very beginning.
- Compact this layer thoroughly. This creates a stable base and prevents uneven settlement later in the build.
- Laser-level tubes to the correct height. With the starting layer in place, the levels are set accurately across the entire footprint.
- Use a screed rail to install and compact the final layer. The screed rail guides the remaining T3 into a smooth, level, compacted surface ready for the KORE Insulated Foundation System.
Why This Matters:
Correct preparation of the T3 layer ensures the foundation system performs exactly as intended, supporting structural loads, maintaining thermal integrity, and ensuring long-term reliability.
The truth is clear: with the right installation method, T3 provides a stable, accurate, and dependable base for the KORE Insulated Foundation System every time.
