Constructing ‘A-Rated’ Homes at scale with KORE’s Insulated Foundation System
Based in Co. Sligo, Beldare, a leading real estate developer, are working with KORE Insulation on their latest housing development. This company specialises in crafting homes and commercial developments that embody quality, sustainability, and innovation.
This development is the second of three projects where the construction specialists have worked with KORE’s sales manager, Davin Flynn, utilising KORE’s Insulated Foundation System that offered a variety of on and off site benefits, while providing low U-values in a high-performance product.
Located in County Sligo, this latest new build development consists of 127 units of varying sizes from 1-bedroom bungalows to 5-bedroom deluxe homes. All properties will be ‘A-rated’ and designed to embrace durability, elegance and nature, to last a lifetime for the homeowners.
On-site & Off-site benefits of KORE’s Insulated Foundation System
When undertaking a large-scale new development, several key factors play a crucial role in achieving optimal energy efficiency, ensuring high sustainability, and delivering results on time, contributing positively to addressing the current housing crisis.
KORE’s award-winning insulated foundation system has many on-site and off-site benefits that ensure these goals are met, enhancing the overall construction process.
On-site, the system provides faster installation with reduced labour costs, with many foundation installations complete in a matter of days. The system is designed and manufactured specifically for the site needs, with the programme set for multiple base installation at the same time. The installation pieces are quick to install with full guidelines, minimising delays and disruptions. The system’s superior thermal performance helps reduce energy consumption, achieving an impressive U-value of 0.10W/m²K, creating more sustainable buildings from the ground up. Additionally, it enhances structural integrity, ensuring long-lasting foundations with reduced maintenance needs.
Off-site, the specialised manufacturing of the system ensures high precision and consistent quality control, allowing for efficient material use and reduced waste. Each system comes complete with installation drawings and guidelines and is put together like a jigsaw, reducing the likelihood of mistakes. This approach also improves safety by minimising the amount of time workers need to spend on-site, creating a safer construction environment. Furthermore, the reduction in on-site material handling reduces the likelihood of weather-related delays, leading to more predictable project timelines and budget control.
Choosing KORE’s Insulated Foundation System allows the contractor to reach the nZEB standard for all properties, constructing energy efficient, sustainable homes with the addition of renewable energy technologies such as air-to-water heat pumps.
A-rated homes are not just about energy efficiency but also about reducing carbon emissions. KORE’s Insulated Foundation System in collaboration holds an integral role in creating an airtight building envelope, reducing the need for excessive heating or cooling. This leads to lower carbon emissions from the building’s operation, making it a great choice for developers aiming to create homes that meet modern environmental standards.
Addressing the housing crisis
Large-scale developments such as this one are playing a pivotal role in addressing the current housing crisis by delivering energy-efficient, high-quality housing at a much faster pace. The use of advanced construction methods, such as the insulated foundation system, significantly speeds up the construction process. These homes are designed to meet high energy performance standards, ensuring lower utility costs for homeowners while reducing the environmental impact of new developments.
By integrating technologies like KORE’s Insulated Foundation System, developers can streamline the building process without compromising on sustainability or long-term durability. These innovations not only reduce the amount of time needed for each project but also minimise waste and lower construction costs, making affordable, high-performance homes more accessible. The rapid pace of construction means that more homes can be built in a shorter time frame, providing much-needed housing to meet the growing demand and ease the pressure on the housing market.
In addition to helping alleviate the housing shortage, these developments create a positive ripple effect on local economies by generating jobs and supporting the demand for energy-efficient building materials. Ultimately, the quick construction of A-rated homes is a key step in tackling the housing crisis, offering a sustainable solution that benefits both communities and the environment.
