Introduction to Environmental Product Declarations

In our rapidly changing world, environmental consciousness has become a crucial aspect of decision making for both consumers and businesses. As sustainability takes centre stage, various tools and measures have emerged to assess and communicate the environmental impact of products including an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

What is an Environmental Product Declaration?

An EPD is a standardised document that provides transparent and credible information about the environmental performance of a product throughout its life cycle. This comprehensive report is based on recognised standards ensuring that there is reliability in assessing a product’s environmental impact.

Here at KORE, we are conscious of the impact our products have on the environment and therefore have recently worked towards and obtained an EPD. Having an EPD allows us to understand and support our products’ impact on the environment as well as differentiate ourselves from competitors.  It also allows you, the consumer, to source products with a positive environmental impact while achieving successful completion of the project.

For more information on our Environmental production declaration, you can search KORE Insulation on www.igbc.ie which provides information on the measurement of environmental impacts, a detailed description of our product, an accurate representation of the actual processes and quantities used throughout the production process and further valuable information.

Why are EPD’S important?

  1. Informed decision making: It allows all types of consumers and businesses to make informed choices by providing clear and standardised information about our products’ environmental performance.
  2. Continuous Improvement: By highlighting the environmental impact of products, it not only encourages the consumer to be mindful of the contribution to the environment when selecting products but allows us as a business to highlight where we can improve and offer better solutions with our products.
  3. Internationally recognised: EPD is an independently verified document that is internationally recognised so that the consumer can ensure that the product is of a high standard that will meet the project’s requirements.

Not only is having an EPD beneficial for the knowledge and development of our products but also for the drive of positive change across the industry. At KORE, our aim is to promote a sustainable future for both the company and you, our consumers. By taking these steps like obtaining the EPD, we hope to promote the importance of the impact of products while being transparent with our customers, leading to a continuous cycle of innovation and sustainability.
