Irish Construction Awards 2023 Finalists

KORE Insulation are thrilled to announce that we are finalists in two categories at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2023. These prestigious awards are in their 30th year, recognising performance excellence within the construction industry in Ireland.

Within the Construction Product Innovation category, KORE’s Insulated Foundation System has made the shortlist for building fabric innovation. As Ireland’s only NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) certified insulated foundation system, this product offers a plethora of benefits that improve the construction process including:

  • Virtual elimination of wall to floor cold bridge, with U-values as low as 0.10W/m2K, exceeding requirements set out in Part L 2021 Building Regulations
  • Providing a fully engineered foundation specific to the site requirements, mitigating risk, with no need for testing or delays
  • Ease & speed of installation by providing online and in-person training, along with easy-to-follow installation guidelines, increasing the speed of installation, resulting in increased output by 25% each year
  • Large reduction in costs due to the reduced number of trades required on site, a reduction in concrete by approximately 40%, reducing costs and embodied carbon, and a reduction of two thirds of waste accumulated on-site
  • No maintenance required, and this sustainable product will last the lifetime of the building

KORE’s Insulated Foundation System has proven its innovative characteristics on sites across Ireland and the U.K and has been shortlisted for Innovation in Construction for the Carroll O’Keeffe development (Silverbrook), in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

This new residential development consisting of 90- three, four and five bedroom homes is currently near completion of phase 5, and introduced KORE’s Insulated Foundation System on phase 4, to help combat challenges such as sustainability, thermal performance, on-site resources, performance and safety. Carroll O’Keeffe experienced incredible benefits on site from using the NSAI certified system including:

  • Increased construction output of 25%, with 50 units completed in 15 months, compared with 22 units completed in 12 months with traditional foundations
  • Cost savings between €5,000 and €10,000 per week saved off the preliminaries such as ground preparation, equipment and trades
  • Superior thermal performance, with U-values of 0.10W/m2K, offsetting the need for additional energy efficiency measures to meet Part L requirements
  • Increased sustainability on site, not only with the product (made from 98% air), but with the 40% reduction in concrete and associated embodied carbon, and a two thirds reduction in waste on site
  • Seamless engineering and installation with online and offline training, on-site quality checks, engineer approval and continual support post installation.

We are proud to have our Insulated Foundation System recognised within the Irish construction industry for its innovative qualities and processes, and you can learn more about this product here and how it can dramatically enhance your next build.

Congratulations to all the fellow finalists, and we look forward to the awards ceremony on April 27th.
