Rollover the image above to see the different components of the KORE Insulated Foundation System
The KORE Insulated Foundation System is designed to support compliance with UK Building Regulations Part L while reducing heat loss through concrete ground floors.
The system consists of high-performance EPS insulation components, including KORE Floor EPS100, EPS200 and EPS300, which create a continuous thermal layer beneath the foundation slab to improve energy efficiency and minimise thermal bridging.
To form the perimeter foundation, edge-profiled EPS300 ring beam forms are positioned on the prepared blinding layer and secured using U-pins or PU adhesive. EPS300 insulation is installed beneath internal load-bearing and party walls, while EPS100 insulation boards are laid within the perimeter with tightly fitted joints.
Additional insulation layers are installed in a staggered pattern to maximise thermal performance and ensure continuity around service penetrations and junctions.
A radon barrier and damp proof membrane (DPM) are installed in accordance with project requirements and UK building standards to help prevent moisture ingress and protect the building envelope.
Reinforcement and concrete specifications are installed in line with the structural engineer’s drawings and project requirements.
Installing the KORE Insulated Foundation System
The video below outlines the typical installation process for the KORE Insulated Foundation System across residential and commercial construction projects.

More Cost Effective
Using a typical UK semi-detached housing development as an example, the KORE Insulated Foundation System can provide significant cost savings when compared to traditional strip and raft foundations. These savings can be attributed to:
- Simplified excavation and construction
- Reduced on-site labour requirements
- Elimination of blockwork and additional formwork
- Elimination of secondary insulation and screed layers
- Faster installation and reduced programme time
Additional savings can be achieved on larger residential developments, where repeated installation allows bases to be prepared efficiently in phases, improving overall site productivity and build speed.
By combining the subfloor and finished floor into a single concrete pour, the system also reduces additional site works while improving thermal performance and helping support compliance with UK Building Regulations Part L.
Detailed cost comparisons and itemised project breakdowns are available on request. Please contact our team for more information.
Eliminate the wall-to-floor cold bridge
KORE’s Insulated Foundation System is designed to minimise wall-to-floor thermal bridging and reduce heat loss at critical junctions. A continuous layer of EPS insulation wraps the wall-to-floor junction, helping to maintain thermal continuity and eliminate gaps between insulating and non-insulating materials. This improves overall thermal performance and supports compliance with UK Building Regulations Part L.
Reduced concrete requirements
Ideal for large-scale developments
KORE’s Insulated Foundation System is an ideal solution for large-scale residential developments and modern housebuilding projects. This innovative system allows builders and developers to progress from blinding layer to concrete in as little as two days, helping to reduce programme time, on-site labour requirements and overall construction costs when compared with traditional foundation methods.
Provides seriously low U-values
KORE’s Insulated Foundation System is designed to achieve U-values significantly lower than those required under UK Building Regulations Part L. Typical foundation U-values range from 0.10 W/m²K to 0.11 W/m²K, depending on individual project specifications and build-up requirements.
Our technical team can provide project-specific U-value calculations and thermal assessments as part of the quotation and specification process.
Suitable for all ground conditions
Exceptional compressive strength
Suitable for a variety of build types
KORE’s Insulated Foundation System is suitable for a wide range of construction methods, including insulated concrete formwork (ICF), steel frame, traditional masonry and timber frame construction. The system is also compatible with off-site and modern methods of construction (MMC), making it a flexible solution for residential and commercial developments.

Complete with Environmental Product Declaration
KORE EPS is supported by a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), helping developers and specifiers assess the environmental impact of materials throughout the building lifecycle.
This data can support BREEAM assessments, low-carbon construction strategies and sustainability targets across UK residential and commercial projects.
